Greek Yogurt Breakfast Bowl
Ever heard of a little thing called….Greek yogurt? Oh, you haven’t been living under a rock and you do know what I’m talking about..good!
Have you ever tried, full fat Greek yogurt?? You haven’t? Well, now’s the time to get better acquainted! Greek yogurt, meet reader. Reader, meet full fat, delicious, creamy Greek yogurt. Ok, now that intros are out of the way, let’s talk yogurt!!
What is your favorite flavor? Mine lately has been this one from Trader Joe’s. It’s a full fat, coconut cream yogurt and it is YUMMY! I tend to think that low fat Greek yogurt is a little too tart for my taste buds….but leave that fat in there and you’ve got yourself a little slice of HEAVEN…or a little scoop of Heaven, or a big scoop of Heaven in my case 🙂
There’s no doubting the benefits of eating yogurt. The enzymes, the countless micro nutrients and vitamins. On average, a serving of Greek yogurt has 10+ grams of protein. Now that is IMPRESSIVE!!! A great and healthy way to add some protein to your diet. There is no easier way to start out your morning, especially if you’re going to be busy.
This bowl will keep you full, or get you through a workout…or get you through a day of chasing babies around the house! If you are like me and enjoy getting your workout finished in the morning, you can eat this right before a workout and not even get one little cramp. For awhile I was eating this every morning before doing a Tony Horton hardcorp 22 workout and I was able to fly through that baby like a champ!! Don’t get me wrong, the workout is rough, especially when you’ve let yourself go a little lax on the old workouts lately, but this breakfast really did make me feel stronger! Who doesn’t want that?
The best part about Greek yogurt is you can pretty much do whatever you want to it and achieve amazing results. In the above photo, I simply plopped a big old helping of coconut Greek yogurt into my bowl. I crumbled up some of my absolute fave almond butter granola from Trader Joe’s, a heavy dose of honey, a sprinkle of chia seeds, a scoop of peanut butter, some slivered almonds, and a smattering of semisweet chocolate chips.
Pure Heaven people!!! Pure Heaven!!! And I’m sorry…but how easy is that? Now you have NO excuses to get lazy with breakfast. I mean, my almost 2 year old son Jack could make this…(wink wink) he wouldn’t even get one chocolate chip in the bowl cause they’d all be in his cute little mouth though:)
Adding Greek yogurt to frozen fruit and almond milk makes a deliciously simple smoothie!! One of my favorite recipes is 1 frozen banana, 1 cup of almond milk, 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1-2 tsp of maple syrup, and 1/2 to 1 cup of coconut Greek yogurt…or vanilla bean…or mango…or honey. Endless possibilities!!

- 1 cup full fat coconut Greek yogurt (or yogurt flavor of choice)
- 1 Tbsp peanut butter
- 1/4 cup almond butter granola (or granola of choice)
- 1-2 Tbsp of semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 whole banana, sliced
- 1/2 Tbsp slivered almonds
- drizzle of honey to taste
- sprinkle of chia seeds
- Add Greek yogurt to a bowl. Drizzle with honey, and add all toppings.
- Make this your own. I don't measure anything here. Just throw in what you want!! Make it easy on yourself! 🙂
